MINE-SWEEPER RULES

Minesweeper is a classic single-player puzzle game where players use logical deduction to reveal all non-mine squares without triggering a mine. Originally developed in the 1990s, it is now available on multiple platforms.

OBJECTIVE

Primary Goal:

Uncover all non-mine squares without detonating any mines.

Failure Condition:

Clicking on a mine ends the game immediately.

Game modes & Mine rules

Board Structure

Grid size: M × N squares (Default presets):

Beginner 9×9 Intermediate 16×16 Expert 16×30

Squares start in an unrevealed state.

Mine Distribubotion

The number of mines is set according to the difficulty level (Beginner level: 10, Intermediate level: 40, Advanced level: 99).

First-Click Safety: The first clicked square and its 8 adjacent squares are guaranteed mine-free.

Mines are randomly placed but fixed once the game begins.

Operating rules

Uncovering
Squares

Left-click: Reveals the square.

Mine: Game over (all mines are shown).

Empty: Automatically reveals all adjacent empty squares until numbered borders.

Number: Displays the count of adjacent mines (1-8).

Marking
landmines

Right-click: Place a flag on an unopened
square (indicating a suspected mine).
Each flag reduces the remaining mine count
by 1. Right-click again to remove the mark.

Win/Lose Conditions

Win:

All non-mine squares are uncovered (flags optional).

Lose:

Uncovering a mine or misusing quick reveal.

Strategy Tips

Logical Inference:

Numbers indicate the quantity of mines in the surrounding area. Analyze them by cross-referencing adjacent numbers.

For example, if the number "1" is next to an uncovered square and there is already one flag in its vicinity, then the remaining squares are safe.

Common Patterns:

Beginner level (9×9 grid, 10 mines), Intermediate level (16×16 grid, 40 mines), Advanced level (16×30 grid, 99 mines).

Arrangements such as "1-2-1" or "1-2-2-1" usually indicate the positions of mines.

Game Modes and Settings

Difficulty Levels:

Beginner level (9×9 grid, 10 mines), Intermediate level (16×16 grid, 40 mines), Advanced level (16×30 grid, 99 mines).

Custom Mode:

Allows you to set the size of the game board (maximum 30×24) and the number of mines (up to 360 mines).

Timing Rules:

The game starts timing from the first operation and is displayed in seconds.

Notes

If the number of remaining uncovered squares is equal to the number of remaining mines, the system may automatically determine a victory.
